Collection: Weight Kits

Our weight upgrade kits are designed to bring HO and N scale rolling stock up to NMRA recommended weight standards, improving tracking and reducing derailments — especially on cars that run light from the factory. Each kit is sized for a specific car model, so you can find the right fit rather than guessing at generic add-on weight.

If you're not sure why car weight matters or how much weight your cars actually need, our guides cover the basics: why model trains derail and how to fix it and what the NMRA weight standard recommends for different car lengths. Browse this collection by car type and manufacturer to find kits compatible with Athearn, Accurail, Intermountain, and other popular models.
